- College foundation day was celebrated
on 3rd Oct. 2008. On this occasion, blood donation
camp was organised in which 15 staff members donated
their blood. The blood donors also planted saplings
on the campus.
- For faculty development, a week long
advanced computer level application programme was
conducted in Aug.2008 by the Computer Education
Dept. of the institute.
NAAC AWARDS 'A' GRADE TO
VIDYA BHAWAN IASE
A NAAC Peer Team comprising eminent
educationists Prof. K. Sudha Rao, Senior Advisor NUEPA
and Ex. Vice-Chancellor, Karnataka State Open University,
Prof. Harish Rathore (Member), Ex. Dean Faculty of
Education, BHU, Sh. Ponmudiraj (Coordinator NAAC),
visited the institute on 12-13 December, 2007. The
NAAC Team evaluated different programmes, curricular
and co-curricular activities, Infrastructure facilities
of Departments alongwith research, extension and innovation
carried out during the past five years on the basis
of the Self Appraisal Report (SAR) submitted by the
Institution. The team also interacted with the Faculty
members, B.Ed. and M.Ed. students, Alumni, members
of the managing committee and stakeholders and collected
opinions and evidence based on SEVEN CRITERIA developed
by the NAAC and NCTE for assessing Higher Education
Institutions in the area of Teacher Education.
The NAAC team appreciated the efforts of the Institution
for modernization of curriculum, innovations in transaction
of curriculum and its evaluation, leadership and teamwork
of the institution, quality of institutional, individual
and collaborative researches, student support services,
infrastructure facilities and relationship with stakeholders,
alumni, community etc.
Based on the evaluative report the NAAC Peer Team
handed over the Evaluation Report in the exit meeting
held on 13.12.2007. The NAAC has accredited Vidya
Bhawan G.S. Teachers College for a period of five
year with 'A' Grade valid from 22.12.2007.
INTEL Initiates Computer
Training Workshop for Teachers Educators:
The Institution organized a six
day Computer Training workshop for teacher educators
of the colleges affiliated to M.L.S. University,Udaipur,
from 17th December 07 to 22nd December 2007 at our
institute. This workshop was organized in collaboration
with INTEL and NCTE as per their MoU and was attended
by 20 participants. The participants received hands-
on- experience in developing computer based lesson
plans, in creating web pages, newsletters, and brochures
and in using Internet; in making PowerPoint presentations
etc. This programme empowered the teacher educators
in deploying technology for improving the quality
of teaching - learning process by using project based
learning programme.
OAS of this institute was organized
at Kharagada in Dugarpur district from 2 to 6 Nov
2007.
An International Seminar on Cognition
and Learning
It was organized at this institute
from 5-7 Oct 2007 in collaboration with Vidya Bhawan
Education Centre ,Udaipur.Prof.Krishna Kumar, Director,
NCERT, delivered the key -note address in the seminar.
Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)
A special Cell known as "Internal
Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)" has been established
in the college. This IQAC has decided to activate
the system and raise the institutional capabilities
to higher levels so that the institution makes continuous
improvement in quality. This may involve identifying
various processes that develop capabilities and continuous
reforms in the institution.
Grievance Redressal Cell (GRC)
A special Cell known as 'Grievance
Redressal Cell (GRC)' has been established in the
college. The GRC is expected to look into the matters
related to grievances of the students and faculty
members, including grievances and complaints if any
related to the female students, faculty members and
workers of the college.
Placement and Counseling Cell
The Placement and Counseling Cell
has been functioning since July 2007. M.Ed. students
find placement in teacher education colleges through
the Institute. The Cell provides brochures to the
practicing and other private schools along with private
teachers colleges informing them about the services
of the Cell. Schools and the private colleges take
help and consult the Institution from time to time
for such placements. Students may also apply for placements
through the Cell.
Theory Transaction
To engage the students in active
learning, strategies like brain storming sessions,
group discussions, panel discussions, workshops, team
teaching, assignments, presentations & discussions
by the students are adopted in theory classes.
Teaching Practice
Through an innovation called "Experiencing
Pedagogical Skills" teaching skills were identified
& practiced by the students in small groups. Prior
to actual teaching practice in schools students are
given enough practice in simulated conditions in the
institute through "Simulated Teaching". A "Learning
Facilitation Plan" developed by the faculty is flexible
& incorporates the use of various teaching methods,
strategies, techniques etc. by the student- teachers
during teaching practice. It allows shifting the role
of teacher to facilitator and makes learning student
centered.
Evaluation
Student's assessment of both curricular
& co-curricular activities is done comprehensively
and continuously through self-appraisal forms called
"Portfolios" developed and evaluated by the faculty.
Peer & self-evaluation strategies are also incorporated
for student's evaluation.
Workshops
At the M.Ed. level workshop mode
is adopted for tool construction, data analysis and
interpretation as a part of dissertation work.
A Report on the UGC sponsored National
Seminar
A two-day national level UGC sponsored
seminar on Empowerment of Teacher Educators for Quality
Teacher Education was held at this institute on 24th
